If you are looking to deepen your relationship with self, others, and place for well-being, you are in the right place.
With a combined background of Environmental Studies, Counselling/Social Work, Forest Therapy, and Somatics, this work has been a core part of my life for nearly two decades.
After moving to Canada from England at age 20, I experienced a profound opening to the healing and transformative power of nature connection.
A series of synchronistic events led me to live off-grid in the temperate rainforest of coastal British Columbia in a log cabin. For six months, I lived immersed in nature and experienced deep nervous system re-patterning and spiritual awakening to the natural world.
From that time on, I knew that my life's work was to dig into the wondrous healing power of nature connection.
Professionally, I have worked as an Addictions Therapist, Domestic Violence Crisis Counsellor, Forest School Instructor, and teacher of my ancestral British animist traditions. I have found that nature connection has been an integral practice with my clients from all walks of life.
Most importantly, I have spent thousands of hours in direct communion with nature and wilderness in Europe and North America, which has enabled me to process trauma and reshape my life.
These experiences and education have provided me with a strong understanding of the intricate relationships between ourselves and the natural world.
Embodied nature connection is extraordinarily powerful, and one of the most impactful ways for us to engage in nervous system and somatic practice, make meaning out of our experiences, navigate challenges, and create holistic wellness.
Other essential elements of my life include being a mother to my three incredible daughters, an on-going inquiry into my ancestral ways of knowing (Gaelic animism), and somatic exploration of living through Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and treatment.
I live on traditional Saugeen Ojibway Nation Territory, Grey County, Ontario, in the Great Lakes Region, and spend a lot of time on the traditional unceded Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Squamish Nation territory, North Vancouver, British Columbia in the temperate rainforest.
Awaken to Nature offers Forest Bathing sessions in Grey County, Ontario, and online programs in ecosomatic practice and theory.
